Arizona Republic: Rosie’s violin: Academy founder now a student in her 70’s

Rosie Schurz, founder of Rosie’s House music academy, is rekindling her childhood passion for the violin after a 70-year hiatus. After a difficult childhood during World War II, Schurz, now 79, is pursuing music once more with the guidance of violin teacher Patty Waxman. Schurz, who founded Rosie’s House in 1996 to offer music education to underserved youth, is proving that it’s never too late to start learning.
