Community Engagement
We actively engage families by communicating the availability and benefits of mental health resources through newsletters, social media, and in-person events.
At Rosie’s House, we believe that music is more than just an art form—it’s a vital source of healing and emotional well-being. Our Mental Health & Wellness Initiative, created in partnership with Terros Health and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, ensures that students and their families have access to critical mental health resources while challenging the stigma often associated with mental health.
This initiative empowers our students to flourish both musically and emotionally through compassionate, community-centered solutions. By providing access to counseling, support groups, and wellness education, we’re creating a safe space where our students can thrive.
We’re dedicated to fostering growth beyond music, nurturing each student’s well-being as they navigate their unique journeys. With the support of Terros Health and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, we’re breaking down barriers to mental health care, one note at a time. Join us in supporting the well-being and resilience of our students, as they heal, grow, and find strength through the transformative power of music.
Through the Mental Health & Wellness Initiative, we’ve developed several ways to support our students:
How does music help with mental health?
Music has been shown to reduce anxiety, elevate mood, and provide a creative outlet for emotional expression. At Rosie’s House, students use music to cope with stress, anxiety, and even depression by giving them a sense of purpose and achievement.
How does trauma-informed training help?
Trauma-informed training equips staff and volunteers with the knowledge to recognize signs of trauma in students and respond with sensitivity. This approach creates a safe, supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable seeking help.
What are some common mental health challenges students face?
Students may face challenges like anxiety, depression, bullying, ADHD, trauma, or even substance use disorders. By providing mental health support alongside music education, we help them overcome these obstacles and thrive.
What should I do if I notice a student struggling with mental health issues?
If you observe signs of distress in a student, such as changes in behavior or mood, reach out to Marvin Scott (marvin@rosieshouse.org, 602.252.8475, ext 102). Marvin will guide the family through the next steps, including a referral to Terros Health.
