Nathan Johnston
Nathan Johnston has been a music educator in Arizona for 17 years, serving students in 5th – 12th grade classrooms and as a District Fine Arts administrator. He focuses on the opportunities for “creative education,” blending traditional and progressive approaches in the same classroom or community space. Additionally, he champions the integration of modern technology and mobile applications to enhance individual and community musicking.
Johnston is a graduate of Arizona State University (BM), Auburn University (MEd), and is currently pursuing his PhD in Music Teaching & Learning at Arizona State University. He is a regular guest conductor, clinician, presenter, and adjudicator in all areas of music. As an active member of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), Arizona Music Educators Association (AMEA), and current chair of the Round Table Advisory Committee (RTAC) to the Arizona Department of Education, he strongly advocates for access to authentic & relevant arts experiences for all students.
