Michael grew up surrounded by music and several generations of music educators. He spent many nights sitting backstage as his parents performed with a variety of country, bluegrass, and western swing bands, and eventually learned to play fiddle, guitar, and mandolin well enough to join them as the “Rolland Family Band.” Michael is a 4-time Arizona state fiddle champion, 5-time Tri-State Flatpicking Guitar Champion, and 3-Time Tri-State Mandolin Champion, and now enjoys sharing his love of music with his own young children.
The son of two music teachers and grandson to celebrated violin pedagogue Paul Rolland, Michael understands the profound importance of sharing music with the next generation.
