Nick Kirby practices Intellectual Property law at KW Law in Phoenix. While there, and sometimes while not there, Nick helps clients protect intellectual property by acquiring patents, registering trademarks, and guiding them through the licensing process. He prepares and prosecutes patent applications related to software, business methods, semiconductors, mechanical devices, and electronic devices, among other technologies. Nick also develops and implements strategies for licensing and asserting intellectual property rights.
Nick serves concurrently as a Regulatory Compliance Advisor at Arizona Public Service. His team helps internal groups at APS identify and manage reliability risks outlined in the NERC Reliability Standards. He focuses on Standards written to protect information technology and operational technology from misuse or malfunction. Regulatory compliance is one of the many reasons Arizonans enjoy safe and reliable electricity.
Nick has lived in Arizona since 1997. He attended high school in Tucson, and stayed down south to attend the University of Arizona for undergraduate and graduate programs. Nick likes to stay cool in the desert playing ice hockey, skiing in the winter, and generally heading for the hills as temperatures rise. He also loves community involvement, particularly roles where he can help people grow. For Nick, serving on the Board at Rosie’s House opened a rewarding avenue to help young people improve themselves through education. He hopes you will get involved, too.
