Richard Utsonomiya
Richard Utsunomiya, known as Kyu, is Partner and Co-Founder of Conceptually Social, a DTPHX minority owned hospitality company with concepts (Kaizen Sushi, Konbini, The Larry and Conceptually Social Catering). Kyu’s previous industry experience began at The Phoenician Resort and continued to develop under intense training with Houston’s (Hillstone) Restaurants, Caesar’s Palace International and InterContinental Hospitality Group (The Montelucia Resort).
Kyu’s nonprofit experience began with serving 3 years on committee alongside the Hance Park Conservancy and Noche en Blanco Gala, the annual fundraising event, helping with food and beverage operational logistics and fundraising assistance. Since 2020, Kyu has been also serving as board member and Treasurer with Arizona Pet Project. Kyu’s passions are in all aspects of hospitality, connecting people and advocating for local business in DTPHX.
Kyu is a proud husband and father to his two stepchildren and the family’s pup, Luna.
