In Early Childhood Music Exploration, child ages 4-6 sing, play, and dance while learning music basics. Music-making plays an integral role in early childhood and in Music Exploration, children develop critical learning skills including language acquisition, pattern recognition, physical coordination, and memory. Ninety percent of a child’s brain develops by age five, and early childhood music programs are proven to greatly improve socioemotional, cognitive, and psychomotor development, leading to success in kindergarten. Furthermore, music and the human interaction that accompanies it is one of the most intense, multi-sensory, and physically involved activities in which young children and their parents can engage.
Students will be introduced to singing and solfege, be taught how to play introductory instruments like tambourines, and learn rhythm using body movements including hand claps and foot stomps.
