Leif Austin is a Trumpeter and Teaching Artist based in Phoenix, Arizona building an eclectic career in music on and off the stage.
Leif has played with top orchestras across the country including the Chattanooga, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Santa Fe and Tucson Symphonies, the New Mexico Philharmonic, and the Santa Fe Opera. He combines his passions for chamber music and education through collaborations with Carnegie Hall, the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, the Vancouver Brass Collective, the Phoenix Youth Symphony Orchestras, and, of course, the ever expanding programs here at Rosie’s House. Whether on the TEDx stage, Major League Baseball Fields or in the classroom, Leif believes music is energy that connects everything and everyone. He hopes empowering students with the pursuit of excellence does some service to that uniting force.
Leif holds a B.A. in Music from the beautiful campus of Berry College in Rome, Georgia, an M.M. from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and is currently pursuing his D.M.A with international soloist and Canadian Brass trumpeter, Joe Burgstaller at Arizona State University. Leif and his cat, Louise, love the Arizona coffee scene and camping across the southwest with whatever free time they can find.
