When our young musicians-in-training attend their first music class, they learn the basics of playing their instrument, such as how to hold it properly and the techniques to produce sound – their very first notes! Learning alongside their classmates in a safe, encouraging environment created by our highly trained music educators, our students form bonds that can last a lifetime and help build foundational life skills like goal setting, creativity, and teamwork. Your gift this Arizona Gives Day will provide these opportunities to more young students next year.

#MIOSM For Music In Our Schools Month, we asked ou #MIOSM For Music In Our Schools Month, we asked our teachers, “What first drew you to music and what inspired you to become a music teacher?” Danielle Cooke, Piano, shared her where her love of music first began.

“I was drawn to music through my dad. He used to take piano lessons when he was younger and still remembered how to play a few pieces. I was so impressed by him and wanted to play like he did. The first piece he taught me was Moon River. My parents started me in piano lessons shortly after. I always wanted to practice because playing music was fun for me, and it was something I was good at.

I wanted to teach music because I thought I could share my enthusiasm for music with others and show students what they're capable of achieving. I love when students see how much progress they have made when their hard pieces suddenly become easy for them.”

Thank you for sharing Danielle!
